Top 5 Packing Tips

Oh the dreaded packing! These tips will help if you are like me - a last minute packer. Maybe you are always on the go, or identify as an advance packer that loves a good list and checking it off. No matter the kind, here are my Top 5 Packing Tips!

  1. Use Packing Cubes

I really like packing cubes (especially for longer trips) because they help keep multiple outfits organized. They help keep clothes condensed and compartmentalize your suitcase. There are many packing cubes out there and I have gone through a lot trying to find my favorite. The main thing to make sure of is that the zipper quality is good, or else you are wasting money.

2. Pill Case

I take this on every trip and it has everything from ibuprofen, allergy, vitamins, cold medicine and prescription pills in it. I make sure this is in my carry-on and stays with me on day-trip excursions because you never know!

3. Dryer Sheets

Always a staple when I pack. I normally pack 5-7 in a zip-lock bag and I leave one out so that when I open my luggage it smells fresh! These are great for keeping clothing smelling fresh and clean when on the go.

4. Pack a Ziploc Flat Space Bag as a Laundry Bag

I don’t like using a packing cube or a cloth bag for dirty clothes. An extra bag minimizes my laundry since it keeps dirty clothes from touching clean clothes. Also, before you use it for your dirty clothes, throw your clothes in there for the next day and use a dryer sheet for great smelling clothes then! Double use!

5. Pack Wrinkle Release

Sometimes there is not time to iron or enough suitcase space to pack the steamer. The best thing I have found to pack is Downy’s wrinkle release. I hang any clothing needed in the bathroom - spray it - stretch it and let it stay while I am in the shower for a natural steam and by the next day. After you do that, your wrinkled dress or shirt is perfect to wear!
